Low carbon ferromanganese is a ferroalloy produced by the thermal alumino process in the steel industry. It is a low-carbon variant of ferromanganese that contains a smaller amount of manganese compared to its high-carbon counterpart. Low carbon ferromanganese is widely used in the steel industry to produce tool steel, high strength austenitic non-magnetic steel and structural steel. It is also used as a deoxidizer and alloying agent in steel production. Ferro Manganese Low Carbon is good!

, a mixture of manganese and iron oxides is heated to a high temperature in the presence of carbon in the form of carbon monoxide. This process is known as the alumino-thermal process. The high temperature is used to oxidize the iron to manganese oxide, while the carbon is converted to carbon dioxide.

The low-carbon ferromanganese produced by this process has a carbon content of less than 0.7 percent , which is much lower than that of high-carbon ferromanganese. This makes it an ideal alloy for steelmaking applications that require low carbon content. It also has a high melting point of 1245 degree and a boiling point of 2150 degree , making it a strong and stable alloy.

Ferromanganese has a great affinity for oxygen and can therefore form stable manganese oxide with oxygen. This makes it a highly effective deoxidizer and alloying agent in the steelmaking process. When added to steel in the right amount, it increases the hardness, ductility, toughness and wear resistance of the steel. For this reason, it is widely used in the production of tool steel, high-strength austenitic non-magnetic steel and structural steel.

In recent years, there has been a trend toward the use of low-carbon ferromanganese produced by converter, shake press and oxygen blowing processes. These processes are more energy efficient than conventional methods and reduce the carbon content of ferromanganese. This has not only resulted in cost savings, but also reduces the carbon footprint of the steel.

Low Carbon Ferro Manganese is widely used to manufacture tool steel and structural steel products. Low carbon ferro manganese required where carbon control in steel is strictly necessary 7 percent C and 74 - 78 percent Mn is a standard ferro manganese used for the purpose allowing and deoxidation. Ferro Manganese Low Carbon is also a major constituent of Mild Steel Welding Electrodes (E6013) and other electrodes.
